Personality Tools

There are many ways to experience personal growth and awareness as it relates to vocation and identity. Here are two such helpful tools that have proven to be incredibly effective in providing us language and higlighting opportunities for growth.

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator

MBTI is a tool of self-discovery, consisting of 93 questions designed to indicate your preferences in 4 key areas, (see below). The results can equip you to understand your preferred ways of being in the world. This self-awareness not only helps you make sense of your behavior but also to appreciate the differences of others. The knowledge can enable you to navigate many aspects of your life, including your relationships, how you approach your job, how you communicate or deal with change, and even expressions of your spirituality.

There are 4 key areas in the MBTI assessment...

  • Where we focus our attention and get energy.

  • The way we take in information.

  • The way we make decisions.

  • How we orient ourselves to the external world.

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is the most widely used personality assessment tool in the world and used in over 70 countries. It is rooted in the work of Swiss Psychiatrist, Carl G. Jung, and was subsequently developed into its present form through testing and research by the mother/daughter partnership of Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers.

As a certified practitioner of MBTI , I am qualified and trained to
interpret MBTI results.

I work with individuals, groups, and facilitate workshops and retreats.

Let's chat about how you can get the most from this personality tool.

“Our MBTI workshop with Everyday Pilgrimages was so much more than a session on personality styles. Witty took time to foster a deeper understanding of how each team member’s preferences impacted the team’s overall dynamic.  She expertly facilitated the session and allowed time for us to reflect on our own preferences and develop compassion for one another based on each other’s preferences. She was excellent at reading the tone of the group, adjusting as needed. We only wish we had booked a longer session!”

The Enneagram

All faith traditions, including Christianity, and practitioners who operate outside religious frameworks, understand that true transformation includes an inner journey that leads us outwards. The enneagram is an ancient tool that provides a framework for understanding personality and undertaking that journey of self-reflection. This leads to greater self-awareness and compassion for others, enabling us to wonder why we think, feel, and act in particular ways.

It has been a helpful growth tool for me, giving me language to articulate my motivations and behaviors as well as navigate my relationships with others. I stress that I am not formally trained. I describe myself as an enneagram enthusiast who has much to learn. On this basis, I am happy to engage in and share enneagram wisdom if it is helpful to do so, and as a starting point for others to go on their own journeys.
